Satellites above the earth allow data to be transmitted to a GPS receiver. Using the data transmitted to the GPS receiver the exact location of the reciever can be determined.

Who uses GPS?
GPS is used for military, recreational, agricultural and commercial use.
Recreational use would include: fishing, hiking, walking, biking,geocaching and driving.
Non-recreational use would include: taxis, planes, delivery trucks, ambulance, rescue, marketing, real estate, studying earthquakes, map making and surveying.
